Waterproof Shade Cloth, Coastwide Waterproof Shade Sails from Gold Coast are essentially just that, ‘waterproof’. That is to say that water does not penetrate through the sail rather it just rolls off. We use two very different fabrics in this application; ‘Rainbow DriZ’ and polyester coated PVC (manufactured by several suppliers). This page will look at ‘Rainbow DriZ’.
‘Rainbow DriZ’ is shade fabric with a waterproof membrane over one side. It consists of a high-density polyethylene knitted shade fabric, with a low-density polyethylene coating. The coating which is on the underside prevents water from penetrating thus not only protecting from up to 99% UV-R and reducing the temperature beneath it also protects from the rain.

- All fixings are positioned using 316 grade stainless steel fittings.
- Sails are manufactured from industry recognized commercial grade fabrics. Our preferred brands of shade fabrics are Rainbow Shade ® & Abshade ®. Our preferred brand of PVC Vinyl is Valmex ®.
- Our sails are manufactured at our facility to exacting standards and are either twin needle sewn or welded (according to the fabric). The corners of each sail are reinforced with the S/S locating rings secured by cross stitched seatbelt webbing to the reinforced corners. 4mm stainless steel cable or heavier is double sewn in to the perimeter giving the sail structure it’s strength and tensioning integrity.
